Whenever we are upset, extremely happy, or want to celebrate, we all have our go-to playlist. We’ve all got our music choices. Music that best explains our feelings. The music that we listen to escape from ourselves and reach the world of calmness. We’ve all been connected to music in some way or the other. But have you ever thought about the impact music can have on our health both mental and physical? Have you ever tried to explore the soothing world of music? Have you ever noticed how music acts as therapy in our difficult times? Or how it takes us back into the best moments we once lived and sometimes helps us forget our pain?

No worries even if your answer is no because today we are going to explore the world of happiness, calmness, and escape — the world of Music and Wellness.

Over the past few years, music has almost taken a 180o shift and has become something more than just lyrics put onto beats. Today music is been looked at as a therapy or simply as a medicine. With mental health coming into so much limelight, there have been many significant advancements on the prospect of music being a wellness treatment. Studies have brought up that music can help people get out of conditions like depression and anxiety. Music can also help relieve pain and can even fasten the healing process. It is completely capable of eliciting the sensation of happiness, which is a key factor in helping people heal from their injuries and traumas. Another very strong evidence of music being a healer is the studies that have found that the memories connected to music can even resist Alzheimer’s disease. Those memories are never lost. Music leaves an unforgettable imprint on our minds.

Our brain is the center of all our sensations of love, happiness, content, sorrow, pain, and loneliness. And music having the potential to impact our brain in so many different ways is the stepping stone towards wellness through music. After the evolving research in the field of music and its impacts, we can even witness the application of music therapy. Psychologists are trying to incorporate music into their counseling and healing therapies. Even doctors suggest listening to relaxing music before a hard-core surgery or even as a healing method during and after the medical process. The latest advancement is Sound Therapists, who try and help you heal solely through sounds and soothing music.

Taking this to the micro-level, a phenomenon that we all can relate to are the meditation apps. These apps are also blending meditation and music therapy together. They are incorporating the sounds of nature like the sound of rain, waterfall, or birds chirping, with other soothing tones to create music that can positively impact your health. There are apps helping people sleep, meditate, release stress, focus, write, and whatnot, all through music. So many apps like Calm, Headspace, and Tide, etc. are all based on the concept of wellness through music. They can accompany you along with your car drive sessions or help you de-stress after a hectic day in the office. Many artists in their capacity are also contributing to this cause. Many unsung musicians are playing their part in producing soothing music.

Even if you are not a meditation app user still you would have days where you get tired of watching screens and just put on some music to help relax. So the thing true for almost of all us is that music is an integral part of everyone’s life. It impacts human health in so many different ways and is also a means of helping others fighting their battles.

Despite all the research to find more links between music and human health and the apps producing wellness music, still there is a lot to do on the musician’s end. Music is just, not the songs we listen to while doing daily chores, and it is something far more strong and impactful. There needs to be a deeper understanding of the science behind sounds and music. The artists need to explore new tones, genres, and beats to enhance the impact it has on the listener. Music needs to be revolutionized to improve its engrossment. To take this mission of wellness through music forward, we as artists and musicians need to come together.

Everyone has their own story, own experiences, and different ways of healing. And a musician surely knows how to put his story into music. By incorporating different experiences and producing music together we can take this musical journey to another level. Different thought processes need to be collaborated to improve the musical experience. In some way or the other people will relate and have their journey of healing and recovery through music.

The only way to go by is — Together We Succeed!
